We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join our team.
Responsibilities:
This position is designed for a strong team contributor looking for an opportunity to grow with a young dynamic company. The position will be responsible for all aspects of the Accounts Payable function and will report to the Controller.
- Process 3-way P.O. matching goods and services invoices
- Review all invoices (including check requests and expense reports) for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
- Audit and process credit card bills
- Match invoices to ACH/checks, obtain all approvals/signatures for ACH/checks
- Process weekly Wire and ACH/check runs
- Maintain vendor profile
- Maintain W-9s, prepare and distribute annual tax forms such as, 1099s and W-2s
- Respond to all vendor inquiries and proactively contact vendors to resolve issues in a timely manner
- Reconcile vendor statements and correct discrepancies
- Assist in month end closing, including, but not limited to: fixed assets, prepaid expense, accrued expenses, and goods received not invoiced.
- Self-assess California Use Tax on purchases in accordance with California Sales & Use tax regulations and file returns
- Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
- Process semi-monthly payroll and ensure quarterly/annual payroll taxes are processed in QB.
- Assist in annual financial audit
- Assist with other projects as needed
Requirements
- 3+ years of progressive Accounts Payable and General ledger experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in accounting or related field
- Thorough knowledge of applicable accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts, and integrated procure-to-pay platforms
- Experience with California Sales & Use tax, W-9, and 1099 reporting
- Excellent organizational, analytical and quantitative skills
- Proven ability to build strong relationships both internally and with external vendors
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Driven with the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Experience with QBO (Quickbooks Online) and Point Purchasing a plus
- Experience in the biotech industry a plus
